CASCINA LOSSANO

Year: 2023

Where: Pavia, Italy.

The traditional Cassina from 1880 displays a series of areas designed to fulfill a circuit of self-sufficiency processes that supported several families of workers, who in addition to sharing a work area, also shared their homes and free time routines.
This creates in itself a system that benefits and promotes community life. Which we find interesting at this time in history, since due to the strong technological evolution, and the excessive optimization of the time of daily life today, we tend to not have time, worth the redundancy, to think about other systems that without ceasing to be efficient, reconnect us with the virtue of being human. Sharing moments, interacting with the environment, only with a common goal: housing.
The self-sufficiency evaluated and designed in the project, responds to current daily life, of a modern user, who has the opportunity to live outside the toxic and rushed metropolis, maintaining his working hours into it but with a human rest in his home in which he/she can be more connected with nature.
Cascina Lossano housing is designed with the basic principle of Japanese culture “a meeting for a common purpose”, and this is what empowered the ideal concept, each block of houses has its own vertical garden and storage to provide a place of meeting and cooperate with the goal of self-sufficiency.
The rest that comes with that is a community consolidated where all people living there take care of their achievements and enhance a familiar interaction between your neighbors.
